First time bird owner?

First time bird owner?

Postby AlphaG » Tue Jan 03, 2012 2:29 am

I'm thinking of getting a bird. They look so damn fun (:
When i was little , i had two parakeets but i don't remember what happened to them. I like colorful, talking birds like a macaw, but i don't think a macaw is a good bird for a first timer. I also like Conures, Love Birds, etc. In your experience what's the best bird for a first time owner?

The best bird is a young male parakeet under 6 months old--just one, not two--so that he bonds with you and is very playful with you. If you get two of any bird, they will bond to each other, and less to you. My little parakeet is so fun, he likes to fly over and ride my fingers as I type on my computer, and he likes to chat and talk too. A parakeet is the best bet, and they live long and happy lives if you play and talk to them every day. They cost less, and make MUCH less mess than bigger birds too. good luck!

Birds the first time, or have a new bird species may mean that you may not understand all the pet supplies you need. Some birds can be higher maintenance pets and require more than just food, water, and a cage bit. According to the birds of your own type, you will need to consider the supplies of the regular cage outside play area.
