Is homosexuality a matter of choice or a matter of genetics?

Is homosexuality a matter of choice or a matter of genetics?

It obviously isn't a matter of heredity.
Do you agree with the way the New York State Legislature responded to the demand that they vote on homosexual marriage?

The New York response was reflective on the general feeling of our society.

When homosexual people started calling their lifestyle "sexual preference", they took it out of the realm of genetics, and I think that was a mistake. The people involved can't come to an agreement amongst themselves as to what the cause is, and it looks like choice, genetics, environment and peer pressure are among the chiefest causes. I agree with the observation above, it is not a civil rights matter but one of social acceptability. Demanding that they be allowed the institution of marriage is probably the biggest mistake the "gay" community has made.
